DRAWING NEAR

“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you…”

(James 4:8)

Thank you for participating in reading through the following scriptures and suggested reading of Drawing Near by John Bevere.  In these last days some are departing from the faith and from the Lord Himself.  But in Christ Jesus, we refuse to follow this end-time trend!

Drawing near to the Lord today requires being intentional and serious.  Power, victory, lasting change is in being close to Jesus.  In this Consecration let’s be intentional and sincere in removing all obstruction to the flow of Holy Ghost power that is present to save, heal and deliver.

PRACTICAL GUIDELINES FOR FASTING

If you are under doctor’s care, please check with your physician before you begin to fast.

  • Please do not stop taking your medications during your time of fasting.
  • Wane yourself of beverages that have a strong caffeine content, such as coffee, tea, etc. Headaches can result from quick withdrawal.
  • During the first few days you may feel a little unsettled due to the release of toxins and etc. from your body.
  • Rise slowly from positions where you are bowed or bent over. Sudden blood flow or blood drain can cause dizziness.
  • During fasting, your breath may smell. Therefore, you may want to have some type of breath freshener with you while in public.
  • Consider your physical demand when fasting. If your job requires heavy physical output, you may want to fast partially so that your body has strength for the output of your job.
  • Pray during the time of fasting. Join in on the corporate time of prayer and also set aside time personally to seek the Lord. The purpose of fasting is to intensify our time of seeking the Lord.
  • Be aware that your spiritual and physical senses will become keener during a time of fasting. Foods will smell better and your tolerance for ungodliness will decrease. Understand this, as you will interact with people who will not be as sensitive as you may be. (Isaiah 58:4)
  • Break your time of fasting carefully. If you have gone without meat for some time, avoid breaking your fast with a big juicy steak. Your digestive system has rested, so be careful how you wake it up.
  • Be on guard, after a time of fasting and praying there can follow a time when the enemy comes to steal what you have gained during this time. When you end your time of prayer and fasting, avoid relaxing your “spiritual guard”! Keep your guard up!

TYPES OF FASTING

Partial Fast: (The Daniel Fast)
